All the things we frequently hear when pet lovers make the decision to breed from their beloved pet dog.
This blog is to highlight the dangers of this. Too many times we read about pet dogs dying during the labor, families being left in debt and puppies ending up in rescues. Do you want "just one litter" to result in you loosing your beloved pet dog?
We would like to firmly state that we are not against breeding. Every breeder has a first time, we respect that. But responsible breeders understand the facts, take time to research and generally breed to enhance the breed itself.
Things to consider before “letting her have one litter”
If you have not been able to say yes to all of these questions, then breeding may not be for you. If you decide not to breed from your bitch, then you may wish to consider having her spayed to prevent unwanted or unplanned pregnancies.
If you have been able to say yes to all of these questions, do not forget that you will also need to keep the following in mind:
