This group is a new group in Huntingdonshire ADHD Support Group (a support group for people in Huntingdonsire who interact with people with ADHD), who meet monthly to discuss their needs as well as their children's. Click here to see their blog.
Mary Mills was first up as a speaker, she is a specialised teacher for children with special needs. She works for CAMH.
Next up it was me.... scared or what?! But luckily I had a lovely crowd to talk to. I spoke with two hats on... one as a Big Walkies director and the other as a Community Support Worker.
I discussed the benefits of Big Walkies and welcomed the group to attend any of our events. For a list of our up and coming events, click here. I'm pleased to announce that the ADHD Support Group will use our event on 17th July as their next meet too! It will be lovely to see everybody again.
Whilst talking about Community Support Work I mentioned a few tools that parents can access. I've included the links to them here, along with some that I've also thought may be helpful:
Pets as Therapy
Community Support Service
Young Lives
Young Carers
Netmums
Pinpoint
Contact a Family
Speaking Up
Dogs for the disabled
We also spoke about children and the fear of dogs. I'm happy to try to help any family with dog fear problems. Please contact us for more information.
My talk was followed by Claire Down as Reiki therapist who gives that hours break for mums and dads but also offers Reiki, Indian head massage and Hopi ear candle treatment for adults and children (Reiki for dogs too!). You can visit Claire's website by clicking here.
I really enjoyed this evening. I am truly in awe of these amazing parents and inspirational children.
Thank You
